The Planting Process

The Alliance South District has a large geographic footprint, and our vision to see a thriving Alliance ministry in every county is definitely a God-sized assignment! We are always on the lookout for people God has called us to partner with in order to see the vision accomplished. We plant all kinds of churches to effectively reach the 38 million people in our district, and while they may vary in size, style, ethnicity and language, they are united in mission and follow the same planting process.

  1. Explore the Call: Our team will walk with you as you discern where God may be leading. Because church planting is more a lifestyle than a job, we use an in-depth assessment process with potential planters and their spouse, diving into character, marriage health, spiritual calling and gifts, emotional intelligence and more. We want to help planters understand who they are, how God has created them, and how their unique wiring might impact church planting efforts.
  2. Identify the Community: We will work together to help identify the best location to reach the people group you sense called to. This involves prayer, dialogue, and demographic research.
  3. Cultivate the Soil: Once we have the location narrowed down, we want make preparations and “plow up the ground” in the community. This involves being present, learning about the people and place you’re called to, networking with community and faith leaders, building relationships, and praying for God to connect you will people who will be part of the launch team. Successful church planters have an established pattern in their life of sharing the Gospel and making disciples, and this is an essential part of the preparation process for both the planter and the community.
  4. Sow the Seed: We will help you set a realistic timeline and lay the foundation for a successful Launch Day when you will open the doors and begin your church’s public ministry to the community. This is both exhilarating and exhausting and kicks off a new season requiring faith-filled dependence upon the Holy Spirit as we walk in obedience and trust God to build His church.
  5. Tend the Garden: The first stages of a church’s life are the ideal time to establish culture, build chemistry and produce the DNA of a thriving church family. This includes leading the church through the steps of church accreditation.
  6. Reap the Harvest: The Alliance South plants multiplying churches because we believe that healthy churches naturally reproduce. As your church family grows, and the pattern of disciples-making-disciples advances God’s Kingdom throughout the neighborhoods of your community, it’s time to start dreaming and praying about church multiplication.
